Rockjewel welcomes spring with Darling Diva A Christmas Story

OK, it's the wrong season. I know. I don't care, shiny things are suitable anytime, anyday. 

This is A Christmas Story by Darling Diva. I don't know how many times I put in the shopping cart, removed it and then put it back again. It was like "Oh it is lovely" "No, it's too much glitter" "Ooohhh shinyyyy" "No wrong time of year" again and again. Finally I let it come to my home, and it is shiny! And beautiful! These pictures are not even close to what it looks like irl. 

The formula is good, easy to apply. It is possible to get opacity with three coates, but I chose to put on Inglot No. 924 as undies and then two coats of ACS. 

I think it has just the right proportion of green glitter in the red. Or what do you think? 

Rockjewel goes on and on with Arcane Lacquer Infinity

It has been too long since my last blog post. I have put on polish and taken photos during these weeks, but haven't had the time to fix the photos and write the blog posts. Now I have six folders with photos waiting to be published, better get on with the work. I hope I will be able to put them all up during next week.

I start with a lovely glitter polish from Arcane Lacquer, Infinity. First I didn't want to buy it, I think glitter polishes are beautiful but seldom use them since they are so difficult to remove. It is a lot easier with peel-off base, but I need to test that a few more times to see how long it lasts. Don't want to arrive at a party with only half o my nails painted ;-)
As you understand I went ahead and bought it anyway. I love this color so I could not resist. 

The formula is really good. A bit gooey, but no problems at all to get the glitter evenly placed on the nail. Good coverage, two coats is enough, no undercoat. I put two coats of Orly Sec'n Dry to get a smooth finish, if you use Seche Vite one coat is probably enough. And it is beautiful without top coat too.

Rockjewel goes wrooooom with Darling Diva GTO

Couldn't resist this even though I normally avoid glitter polishes with medium to large glitter particles in clear base, but GTO from Darling Diva was impossible to resist. It is from the Muscle Car Diva Collection and there are a few more from that collection that I thought about but actually could resist: Charger, Chevelle and maybe 'Cuda. Maybe next time...

GTO is sooo green and glittery so it ended up on my nails. I'm not really sure when I can use this, not a polish I would use at work, at least not when meeting customers. Don't want to distract them from the meeting agenda. Or do I... ;-)
Well it will be perfect for party!

As with many of the polishes of this type it is jelly-ish and a bit tricky to put on and get an even and smooth surface. I would say though that this was a bit easier than other polishes I've tried so far. It is packed with glitter so it was enough with two coats to get full opacity. I will though put on undies in a similar green color next time to avoid the uneven edges around cuticles and tips.

Rockjewel back in black, with Dance Legend Shining Rainbow No64

I have neglected my Dance Legend polishes lately, some of them are still untried. Now when we have a new shipment on its way I think it is high time to use the rest of the old ones.

I got a few from the Shining Rainbow collection and this is one of them, No64. A bit boring that the polishes don't have names, only numbers, but the newer collections seems to have names so that is an improvement.

This polish is a black jelly-ish base with green glass flecks(?) that gives it a beautiful deep shimmer. It is quite opaque but still needs two coats. A bit gooey but still fairly easy to apply. 
In general the quality of Dance Legend polishes are good, and there is a lot to choose from, both traditional types and colors and more trendy collections. The only downside, as I mentioned before, is the shipping time, 45-60 days is a bit too much. Not Dance Legends fault, the seem to handle orders within a reasonable time.

And now, some photos. It was difficult to catch the nice, deep, green shimmer, but still I gave it a try...

 

 

Rockjewel warming up the winter with Lilypad Lacquer Flaming Hot

Working my way through the Lilypad shipments and since the weekly challenge in The Australian Indie Polish Appreciation Society is to show the brightest colors I thought Flaming Hot by Lilypad Lacquer would be perfect. And it is, it really is!
Flaming Hot has been in the Lilypad collection for quite a long time. Every time I ordered from the shop I have looked at it but for some reason it never made the cut. But in the latest order I had room for a couple of those "back burner" polishes, so Flaming Hot finally ended up in my home. 

Orange is not "my" color, I do like it but it's not the perfect color for my skin tone. But when it comes to nail polish I don't discriminate any color. All are welcome in my collection. 

This is a polish with multiple personalities. In ordinary light it is a kind of metallic finish with lots of shimmer. With flash, and under halogen lamp, the holo effect shows with pink and purple flashes. It has both scattered and linear holo, not superstrong but it's there. Really beautiful!! 

The formula was, no surprise, excellent. Love the flat wide brush that makes it possible to apply quite richly. Flaming Hot is not a one-coater, but two is enough. 

Yet another polish I thought I might put on the swap list, but will not end up on that list for a while.

Rockjewel goes lilac with the Darling Diva - Gett Off

I have a couple of Darling Diva polishes, Little Red Corvette and one other. Even though they are beautiful, it is not one of my absolute favorite brands. I'm not too fond of polishes with large glitter particles, or too creamy ones, so there are other brands with mor for me to choose from.

When I bought a couple of Lilypads in a swap/sale group a couple of weeks ago I got one Darling Diva polish thrown into the deal for a small sum of money. I found some swatches, thought they looked ok, so I accepted the deal. And it proved to be a good deal. 

The formula was a bit tricky, difficult to apply thin layers and a bit streaky when applied thicker. But nevertheless it turned up to be really beautiful! I love this type of colour, a bit dimmed lavender. The amount of glitter is perfect, only a few sprinkles here and there. The holo effect is not very visible, but enough, 
Two coats was perfect. I think I might take a second look at Darling Diva in the future...

Rockjewel blings gloomy day with Lilypad Lacquer Diamond in the Rough

A day like today, when it is grey outside and staying home from work with a sore throat and a little fever, you need something to cheer you up. 
I used Diamond in the Rough from Lilypad Lacquer to bring some bling into my gloomy day. This polish is the perfect New Year's eve-party polish, with massive multicoloured, scattered holo effect in a neutral, almost champagne tinted base! 
The formula is excellent! You could get away with one coat if you are in a hurry (it dries quickly) but you get the best result with two coats. It applies evenly and is easy to handle in every aspect (as almost always with Lilypad Lacquer polish). It is a bit of a sugar/sand texture on it, but more glitter than other texture polishes. Even more bling when using a top coat on it. 
These photos do not live up to the irl glitter and shimmer on this nail polish, but believe me when I say that it is really gorgeous!
